CHAPTER ONE

HOW, WHEN AND WHY

There was once an ordinary school, on an ordinary street, in, well not a quite so ordinary place. Four hundred children attended this school. Every single child in the whole town.

ALL ACCEPT ME.

[BECAUSE I'M A GHOST]

I haunt this school. That is all I can ever do for the rest of my life. I've been a ghost for as long as I can remember. But not for my entire life. Since I was 6. And there's only one reason why.

I used to attend the Brainbox Academy School. I was promoted to go there, and it was a great privilege to attend. I was the youngest person to go to this school. All the people in my class and the rest of the school were all over 12. I was smarter than everyone in my year, and everyone wanted to be like me. But nobody liked me. The only reason they wanted to be like me was because they were jealous and wanted to be smarter. To be honest, I don't know how half the people got into that school. Most of them STILL didn't know there two times tables.

One day I was being teased so badly about how I was such a ' teachers pet' and that I was tiny. But I guess they couldn't use there eyes as I was taller than a majority of the school. At 4 foot tall and only six, I knew how to deal with them. I pushed my hair swiftly behind my shoulders, clasped my hands together and put on a polite face. Then I smiled, and said smartly, ' Didn't you read the new rule in the school rulebook?' The three boys looked at each other, puzzled. 'Well,' I carried on, ' it states that any sign or proof of bullying concludes in an instant suspension from the whole school for the rest of your life.' The boys smiles faded away, and trembling, ran away into the boys toilets in the corridor on the right. I smiled and walked away to my maths class.

As my class teacher was teaching us [or really just me, as everyone was ignoring her], I received a note in the palm of my hand. I opened it up and read the contents. It was very scribbly writing, and looked a bit like this:

MEET ME IN THE SCIENCE LAB. ALONE.

I froze. I didn't know what to do. I looked around, and spotted a suspicious girl mouthing to me,

' WRITE BACK.'
