'Number the stars', written by Lois Lowry tells us about three girls living in Copenhag WW2.

Annemarie is the eldest of the three girls; she is ten years old and descibed as having blonde swift hair. Ellen is the second oldest and Annemarie's sister, Kirsti is the youngest.

I believe Annemari to be a responsible and caring character. When the author says Annemarie

and Ellen run ahead of Kirsti- not thinking of her. Annemarie is determined to win. She is so determined,, even though her shoe came untied, she kept running rapidly. If she might have realised that she could've tripped and got hurt.

As Annemarie is the eldest, she is reasonable. When she is stopped by the hostile Nazi soldiers,

she is brave enough to anwser all their questions, in order to leave. This type of behaviour

shows great courage, Although I noticed the fear she expressed on her face.

Throughout the scenes involving Annemarie, she shows herself to be a smart character [ who is

sometimes rather pretective]. When Annemarie reaches out for Kirsti's hand, this shows she is over protective. During chapter 5, the author mentions Annemarie yanking Ellens necklace of her neck. This shows how she is fearcely pretective over Ellen as she doesn't want the soldiers to find out she is Jewish. Annemarie is horrified to see one of the soldiers twist the lock of Ellens dark hair.
