Katsushika Hokusai

Katsushika Hokusai was a famous artist in the 18th century.He was born in Tokyo Japan 1760 and started painting at the age of 6.Hokusai did a lot of pop art and became well known outside Japan.Some features of his paintings were the Mount Fuji,lots of flowers and plantsand lodes of wildlife.One of his most well known and famous pieces of art was The Great Wave of Kanagawa. This is a picture of it. Also The picture of the

Mount Fuji was pretty famous as well.

Despite his success he lived simply and

was very poor.Hokusai was a member of

Buddhist sect who believed that mount

Fuji was put on associated with eternal

life and legend has it that the secret of

eternal life was put on its peak.He didn't

just do pop art he also did paintings.He

died on the 10th of May 1849.


His previous job was a wood carver
