My Experiment on Gravity

We know when we drop a ball to the ground, it would fall quicker than when we drop an empty plastic bag. This is because of the weight of the object. The lighter the object the slower it falls.

Dropping a balloon from head height the speed of it was

Dropping a bobbly pink ball from head height the speed of it was

Dropping an empty small plastic bag open from head height the speed of it

Dropping a one pound coin from head height the speed of it was

00:00.85

Dropping a pen from head height the speed of it was

Dropping a mini plastic egg (hollow) from head height speed was

00:00.68

From our results we found that the bobbly pink ball dropped the quickest at 00:00.29 and the empty small plastic bag at 00:03.08 dropped the slowest which is what I thought would happen.However, I was unsure about the results for the pound as the pound felt heavier than some of the other objects. So we ran some more tests.

Second Tests

1.The pen dropping quicker than pound .

We did the experiment again with the pound and the pen and found out that the angle of the pen, so if its facing downwards, (Vertically) or on its side (Horizontally) effects its speed to the floor, the pen falls quicker to the ground when its vertical with the nib facing downwards. So did fall quicker than the pound.

2. The mini plastic egg dropping quicker that the pound.

We did the experiment again but this time dropped both items at the same time. It seemed like they kept falling to the ground at the same speed so we decided to record dropping the items at the same time and record them in slow motion using a mobile phone. We found that the pound did drop quicker than the mini plastic egg. So our first results when we tested the egg may have been different because we dropped the item before we set the timer or maybe dropped the egg at the wrong height/lower than head height meaning it would fall to the ground quicker as it had less distance to the ground. For my experiment I decided to test and time how heavier and lighter objects fell from head hight to the ground and test what I know. I dropped each item one at a time.
