Demeter is the goddess of the harvest and agriculture,

Demeter's character as mother-goddess is because she has a

daughter called Persephone who was kidnapped by Hades(Greek

God of the Underworld).Her Roman equivalent is Ceres. She was daughter to Cronus and Rhea and sister to Hades, Poseidon, Hestia and Zeus. Another important aspect of Demeter was that of a divinity of the underworld; she was worshiped. Demeter also appeared as a goddess of health, birth, and marriage.
