What was poor Tudor food like?

Poor people in the Tudor period would eat vegetables, bread and whatever meat they could find. The poor would drink out of wooden goblets. Poor Tudors would eat a lot of pottage ( a vegetables stew ). They wouldn't be able to afford much meat. Dairy foods ( such as milk, butter and cheese) were considered as food for the poor. The poor Tudors would eat rye, or wholemeal bread. Vegetables which grew underground , (such as carrots and parsnips), were only considered fit for the poor.

What was rich Tudor food like?

Rich Tudors would would lots of meat but only a few vegetables, such as onions garlic and leeks. Rich people would have had a separate herb garden to grow all there herbs. Rich Tudor's ate bread and drank beer for breakfast. Fruit was always cooked, as it was thought that raw fruit and vegetables were bad for you! The rich Tudors would also eat spices and sugar which the poor couldn't afford. The rich would drink beer,or wine,imported from France.
