The Mona Lisa
My favourite painting is the
Mona Lisa. I first saw this painting at
The Louvre, which is a museum in Paris.
It is a realistic portrait of a woman which almost looks like a photograph. The colours that the artist used also blend well with each other.
* The artist is Leonardo de Vinci.
* He was born 15th April 1452.
* He died 2nd May 1519 age 67.
* He was born in a small town called Vinci in Italy
* Leonardo was a Scientist, Inventor, Architect,
Musician, Sculptor, Mathematician and a great
Artist.
* Leonardo de Vinci began painting the Mona Lisa
in 1503
* He spent 4 years on the portrait.
* The Mona Lisa was never sold.
* August 22nd 1911 the Mona Lisa was stolen but
soon recovered.
The painting is a depiction of Lisa Del Giocondo, a Florentine woman who lived during the time of Leonardo de Vinci. Very little is known about her but she is thought to have died around 1542.
