We are delighted to bring you our first blog from our brand new 'Jigso' project. The project is a collaborative learning initiative between Richmond Park School in Carmarthen (@RichmondParkCPS) and Abercarn Primary School in Caerphilly (@AbercarnPrimary).

The initiative was created by Mr Cooper (@DeputyDCooper) and Miss Williams (@AbercarnPS_RW) to engage the children from both schools through the use of ICT to raise standards in Literacy, Numeracy, Welsh, etc.

We met before and during the Summer holidays to develop our initiative and to ensure that we had

a wide variety of activities to engage the children throughout the term. Some of the ideas we have

planned are:

* Daily Skype/Facetime Guided Reading sessions between Years 2-6 (including Welsh books)

* Use of HWB+ to email collaborative stories

* Children and teachers to write blog/Twitter posts about their 'Jigso' experiences

* Collaborative radio broadcasts on Audioboo to share school news

* Children to create a joint monthly newsletter on Comic Life to share 'Jigso' work

* Use of IMovie to create presentations about each others towns/schools

* Create joint e-safety resources

* Work on collaborative science projects during National Science Week

* Play each other in sports games - children to film and record commentary during the game

* The use of Google Maps for the children to write travel directions to each others schools

* Welsh conversations through HWB+ email - ask/answer questions linked to Welsh phrase of the week

* A weekly 'thunks' session where both schools post thinking skills questions for each other to

answer on HWB+

* Create numeracy problems for each other on 'Explain Everything' and post to HWB for the other

schools to solve

We will be posting regular updates of our activities with images and videos to our new Jigso blog. You can also follow our progress on our new Twitter account by following @iJigso
