Microsociety

In the first lesson of Microsociety, we learnt about scarcity and how it means that there is less of something that everyone wants in this world. There are many scarcity things in this world such as trees, housing, water and many other things. We read this story named Justenuf and we had a discussion about how we were going to share the food that was left over after Abun Dance had broken down. We all had to think of a solution on each of our tables and our table thought that we could open the bag and hand it out to each person until there was no food left.

Our class played a game called The Shape Game. We were all split up into 6 groups, A to F. The point of the game was that we had to use the resources in our groups bag and we had o make a 10cm circle or a 10cm square. We could also trade with other teams if we wanted to. Our team, B had no paper and all the other resources we needed in our bag so that led us to trading our ruler with another teams source of paper. This game taught us that not everyone in this world has everything that they want or need. It also told us how it would feel like to be like this. We also discussed as a whole class with what stuff we need and the stuff that we want. I had really enjoyed our first lesson of Microsociety and I have learnt many new things like how everyone has a hard time because they don't have everything that they need in their life.

In the next lesson of Microsociety, we were to design a society flag for our class. We all individually designed our flag and after we were all finished everyone was to grab one sticker and look at everyone's flag's. As soon as we had done that, everyone was to place their one sticker on the back of the flag that they liked most. In our class, Jason's flag was chosen with the great amount of 10 stickers on the back of his flag. I have really enjoyed these two lesson's of Microsociety so far and I have learnt many things. I am really looking forward to the next lesson's of Microsociety.
