The children will be learning about how Chinese New Year is celebrated. As well as the story of how the Emperor helped the animals to decide what to name each new year. For the challenge this week we ask that you talk with your child about where China is in the world as well as Chinese traditions. For example, how a tea ceremony is performed or how chopsticks are used to eat food. Please let us know which Chinese tradition your child learned about, either by sending in a photo or a picture that your child has drawn. Of course you may also respond on the blog.

The week will be full of exciting activities for the children. In cooking we will be making egg fried rice and tasting it. The children will explore patterns found on dragons and we will make lanterns and Chinese New Year cards. The children can also develop their fine motor skills by taking part in a chopstick challenge!

Thank you for your support with helping your child to make a puppet last week, theyare now ‘accessorised’ and hanging up in the classroom and they look fantastic!
