Next week our learning theme is based around the Mick Inkpen book, ‘Kipper’s Toy Box’. If you happen to have this book at home please share it with your child. Alternatively, please look at pictures of different toy boxes with your child. Our role play area will be changing from a Post Office to a toy shop in readiness for the new toys theme. To link in with our shop role play, we ask that your child sees you writing a number of shopping lists this week at home, please talk to your child about what is on the list and why. This will support your child’s writing development. Please give them opportunities to help you write your lists too. This could be with their emergent writing (which may look like lines, shapes or squiggles) or they may be hearing and writing some of the letter sounds. We would love to see their writing too and display it in the classroom. Please send in their super efforts via their wallets and we will proudly display them.

The children will begin the week by listening to the story. There will be creative opportunities for the children to make their own toy box as well as helping to decorate Kipper’s toy box. In cooking the children will be making a Cheesy Snake, based on a character from the story. To support their mathematical development, the children will create a simple repeating pattern on a snake, compare weights of toys and in F2 practice doubling using teddies ad other toys.

*Note for F2 Parents: Please check your child’s wallet for your copy of their Humpty Word Wall assessment. Please support your child to learn a row or 5 new words each week, in fun ways. For example, funny voices, word snap, word hunts, use of magnetic letters and bingo. Thank you.
