International School Link
As some of you are aware, in July 2014, I went to Siavonga in Africa to set up a school link.
My year 2 children had been working hard learning about Namumu Primary School. They had sent a culture bag and had written penpal letters to the children in the school.
Namumu Primary School caters for children in Grade 1 (7 year old) to Grade 7 (13-21 year old). I spent some time looking around the school and seeing lessons being taught by teachers within the school.
I spent most of my time in Grade 7 (13-21 year olds) as they are able to speak English.
The school has 5 classroom with 7 Grades to be taught. This meant that Grades had to share classrooms.
The kitchen was outside where one meal was prepared for children at break time.
Children started school at 7 o'clock in the morning and finished at 12:40pm. Extra Curricular activites were on offer for older children to attend, these included netball and football. Activities changed each term.
