This week, together we read a bit more of the story of Justenuf. No, actually, not Justenuf,

Notenuf! The society changed their name after the computer that made sure that everyone

had enough of everything broke down. After their computer (Abun Dance) broke down, they

didn't have enough of everything, and that caused arguments. So, in order to try and solve this problem, the leader of Notenuf gave each family a set amount of seeds they could plant and

harvest for later on. The leader also gave each family some Nutri-Bags to keep them going whilst

they were waiting for the seeds to grow. This all seemed to be working pretty well until the

families started trading...

And so that was where we left it. We talked a bit about trading and then we moved on to our

sort of Micro society week topic. Our topic for this week was...

Currency is basically what you use to buy things. For example, our currency is money.

Around the world, currency is different. We (England) use pounds as our currency,

whereas other countries might use something different. Around the world people use

dollars, euros, rupees etc. Next, we played a sort of game where you were given all

these names of things and with your table you had to sort

them into groups of whether or not you thought

they could be used as currency. Everything apart

from Monopoly money made it on our table!

We thought even cows and sheep could be used

as currency...

To complete the week, we came up with a name

for our society's currency.(Our society was called

Brightland). In the end, our class agreed on Dox

as our currency name. We also chose the symbol

for Dox, which ended up like this:

Next, we all looked at the features of a pound note and used those features to create some

Dox notes. At the end, everyone voted on the set they liked best and that is how we created

our Dox notes.
