The Tudors reigned for 118 years from 1485 to 1603. They were a Welsh-English family and they had two of the strongest monarchs to sit on the English throne: Elizabeth I and Henry VIII. Beheading was the most common punishment in those days. Altogether, there were six Tudor kings and queens. The Tudors board games are still played today, such as chess. Mary I is known as bloody Mary because she killed lots of people by hanging them.

Henry VIII

Henry had six wives and they were called Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr. He was born in 1491 and when he was young he was a clever and handsome man.

Clothes

Tudor clothes was normally held together by pins or laces and they used buttons for decoration. The Tudors did wear underwear but unfortunately they were uncomfortable and hard to get on and off.

Food

The Tudors didn't have forks back then so they only used their fingers, knives and spoons. They didn't drink water but they drank ale. Sugar was expensive so they used honey to sweeten things up.
