Show Racism The Red Card

Liberty Stadium

On Thurday 10th April 2014, Year 5 visited the Liberty Stadium for this years 'Show Racism The Red Card' workshop. When we arrived we were asked to discuss 'What is racism?'

We played lots of different games, our favourite game was when the workshop leaders gave us pictures of people and labels e.g. terrorist, tattoo artist. If we matched them all correctly we would have 8 points and win a prize. The highest score on the day was 3 out of 8 because we had all judged the people by the way they look. For example, we thought the man with the tattoos was the tattoo artist but he was a doctor. We learnt that you shouldn't judge someone by the way they look.

After lunch we met some very special guests, Lee Trundle, Wayne Routledge and Roland Lamar. We were asked to be news reporters and to interview the players about racism in football. JG won the 1st prize for asking the best question ' Do you think racism awareness is important?'

We had a fantastic day and even made it onto TV!
