A Rainforest is an amazing place.It is home to 50% of the worlds species,but there are a load of dangerous animals you have to look out for too.you will have to take lots of things so bring a big suitcase! The Rainforest is wonderful but remember there will be itchy bites, painful nips and wet floors!

SLEEPING IN THE RAINFOREST
Making a shelter in the Rainforest is probably the hardest thing you will do today.You might want to have your shelter on the ground or in the air.
You could use a hammock or a tent. I would use a hammock because the floor of the Amazon is full of creepy crawlies and is very damp.But if you would like to sleep in a tent that is fine.P.S.make sure you use your mosquito net!
FOOD
Food in the rainforest is extremely scarce so you are going to have to bring your own. But,in the rainforest you can't just walk down to your local store. Oh no! You have to learn how to live in the wild!
Collecting water
Water is in very short supply and hard to filter that's why you have your purification tablets! Only put three tablets in, otherwise you will have wasted them already!
Collecting Food
There will be some things you can eat in the rainforest such as plants, animals and fish but you'll have to look out for dangerous or poisonous things.
When trying out plants for food there are many steps to test it before you know it is safe to eat:
Smell: if it smells of bitter almonds or peaches, avoid it!
Skin Irritation: squeeze some juice or rub on skin. If it irritates or there is a rash or swelling, avoid it!
Lips, mouth tongue: if there has been no irritation so far...
- place a small portion on lips
- place a small portion in corner of mouth
- place a small portion on the tip of the tongue
- place a small portion under the tongue
finally, chew a small portion
In all cases, if any irritation or soreness if felt, spit out and avoid!
Swallow:
Ingest a small amount and wait 5hrs. During this time do not eat or drink anything else.
Eating:
If no reactions, such as burping, soreness of mouth, feeling sick this plant can be considered safe to eat.
THINGS TO AVOID IN THE RAINFOREST
Watch out for swamps where leeches, cayman and crocodiles live
. If leeches get on you, do not pull them off - the head may come off leaving the jaws in the bite which could turn septic. Remove with a dab of salt, alcohol or flame.
In rivers, watch out for piranhas, stingrays and electric eels.
Keep clothing and footwear off the ground so snakes, scorpions or spiders don't creep in!
Beware of insects and wasp or hornet nests.
Beware of hairy caterpillars. Always brush them off in the direction they travel or small, irritating hairs may stay in your skin and cause a rash.
