Collecting water
Water is in very short supply and hard to filter that's why you have your purification tablets! Only put three tablets in, otherwise you will have wasted them already!
Collecting Food
There will be some things you can eat in the rainforest such as plants, animals and fish but you'll have to look out for dangerous or poisonous things.
When trying out plants for food there are many steps to test it before you know it is safe to eat:
Smell: if it smells of bitter almonds or peaches, avoid it!
Skin Irritation: squeeze some juice or rub on skin. If it irritates or there is a rash or swelling, avoid it!
Lips, mouth tongue: if there has been no irritation so far...
- place a small portion on lips
- place a small portion in corner of mouth
- place a small portion on the tip of the tongue
- place a small portion under the tongue
finally, chew a small portion
In all cases, if any irritation or soreness if felt, spit out and avoid!
Swallow:
Ingest a small amount and wait 5hrs. During this time do not eat or drink anything else.
Eating:
If no reactions, such as burping, soreness of mouth, feeling sick this plant can be considered safe to eat.
