Our year 6 basketball players head off to the Sobell Centre, last week to take part in the annual basketball competition. We took two mixed teams, who were split into separate groups. The B team started off well beating Pakeman Primary 6-2 with Abdellah, Mayam and Djamal-eddine on target.

We then took on favourites St Joan Of Arc Primary who contained one player in particular of immense ability. Mainly down to him we suffered a heavy defeat, 20-2. Our final group game was against William Tyndale Primary where we returned to winning ways with a 8-6 victory, thanks to points from Tony, Abdellah and Dilan. Unfortunately only one side progressed from the group, with that being eventual winners SJOA, so we had to settle for a very credible second place.

The A team started off with a win in a nail biting 7-6 victory over St Mary Magdalene Academy. Jordan and Cory led on the scoring front but as the final whistle blew the game ended 6-6. However with no draws the game went into a sudden death shoot off, both teams found it hard to find the net, until Rasharna stepped up and scored to seal victory.

With a school not showing up we had one game left against Thornhill Primary. Again it was very close but we fell away to lose 6-4 and also elimination.Well done to both sides, they played well together as a team and demonstrated some very good basketball skills.

A team - Jordan, Cory, Eloim, Louis, Tanya, Rasharna.

B team - Abdellah, Djamal-eddine, Dilan, Tony, Zoe and Mayam.
