VIKING LONG-SHIPS

Sail:

Viking long-ships have a threatening dragon-like head at the back and front of the ship. It could be many different creatures that are very detailed and made out of wood.

The sail was made by wives,

daughters and servant girls.

It was blue,white and red cloth sewn together!

The sail was about 10 by 10 meters wide.

Oars:

Some long ships had 70 oars (35 on each side) on a big ship.On a small ship they have 26 oars (13 on each side).A large oar

at the stern steered the ship.

The threatening front:

The boats could fit 50-60 big warrior men

inside.
