Crisp underfoot, my feet sink down deep,

Into the fresh, white snow.

A crunch and a slip as I steady my grip,

Carefully and slowly I go.

Icicles hang from the buildings above,

Falling from roofs in a line.

Watery chimes that are frozen in time,

Gleaming like glass as they shine.

Bushes and plants with a powdery coat,

A robin perches up high,

A flurry of snow hits the garden below,

And the robin passes on by.

Snow floats through the bitter grey sky,

Flakes gracefully fall with a twirl.

Meeting by chance for a fluttering dance,

Creating a beautiful swirl.

I look to the river that's frozen on top,

It's a perilous place down below.

A crack and a creak in the silence so bleak,

The dangers that come with the snow.

The laughter of children is soft in the air

As snowballs are thrown in delight.

A snowman to make, a carrot to take

Then another snowball fight!

My nose is now red, my fingers are numb,

Behind the clouds goes the sun,

So home I will head, to my warm cosy bed,

A day filled with wintry fun!
