This week was science week and we have been doing activates with Year 5.

Miss Haines and Miss Miah ran activates and Mrs Ellis and Mrs Gibson

In Year 6 Miss Haines was showing us how submarines work.

For the experiment we made a model of a small submarine using a penlid, plasticine and a paperclip. We attached the paperclip to the handle of the penlid and pushed on a blob of plasticine to demonstrate the submarine. After we put it in a cup of water to see if it would float. If it didnt then we would take of some plasticine to lighten the weight.Once it had floated we put it ib a bottle of water and screwed the lid. If you pushed the bottle inwards the water would rise and fill the penlid with water wich made it sink.

In Year 5 we learnt that salt makes you float. In the red sea it is so salty that you can just float and read a book wthout sinking .So we decided to experiment it .we had to pots of waterand one pot of salt and two eggs.

we putone egg in one of the pots and wachted it sink. After we put some salt in the other pot and looked if it floated. It didnt float so we kept pon adding salt until it floated.
