ENDANGERED ANIMAL

An endangered animal is an animal which is likely to become extinct in the near future. Endangered animals may be at risk due to factors such as habitat loss, poaching and invasive species. Some of the most endangered animals are: ivory-billed wood pecker, the amur leopard, lemur, vaquita, black rhinoceros.

The mountain gorilla is also an endangered animal. It is a mammal and its average life span in captivity is of 35 years. The standing height of this gorilla is between 4 to 6

feet and its weight is between 300 to 485 pounds.

There are about a thousand mountain gorillas remaining on Earth, and about half live in the forests of the Virunga mountains in central Africa. As their name hints, they live in the mountains.

Due to detrimental human activity, such as poaching, civil war and habitat destruction the mountain gorilla has become the most endangered type of gorilla.
