History of chocolate IN BIRMINGHAM!

IN 1824, JOHN CADBURY OPENED A CHOCOLATE SHOP IN BULL STREET BIRMINGHAM. HE SOLD DRINKING CHOCOLATE AND COCOA.

IN 1897, CADBURY MADE ITS FIRST MILK CHOCOLATE BAR. THEY HAD LOTS OF COCOA BUTTER LEFT FROM MAKING COCOA ESSENCE AND SO MADE IT INTO CHOCOLATE BARS. IT DID NOT TASTE VERY NICE.

IN 1908, BOURNVILLE CHOCOLATE WAS LAUNCHED. IT WAS NAMED AFTER THE FACTORY WHERE IT WAS MADE.

IN 1915, MILK TRAY WERE FIRST MADE. THEY WERE THE FIRST BOX OF CHOCOLATES THAT HAD AN ASSORTMENT OF CHOCOLATES AND THAT WAS AFFORDABLE.

1920 SAW THE FIRST FLAKE BEING SOLD.

IN 1938, ROSES CHOCOLATES WERE LAUNCHED.

1970 SAW THE FIRST CURLYWURLY BEING MADE.

IN 1971, THE FIRST CREME EGG WAS SOLD.

IN 1990, CADBURY WORLD OPENED ON THE SITE NEXT TO THE CADBURY FACTORY.
