On Thursday 2nd November, both Year 5 classes went on a trip and visited the Globe Theatre in central London. It was a very fun experience as we learnt many new interesting facts about William Shakespeare and the theatre itself that we never knew before.

We left school around ten o'clock and got on to the coach. The atmosphere in the coach was very exciting and joyful as we couldn't possibly wait until we got there. When we started to reach central London we got stuck in heavy traffic and it felt like an eternity had passed when we finally arrived! On the way we saw many famous landmarks such as Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament and the Shard.

When we arrived at the Globe theatre, it was half past eleven because we spent so long in the coach sitting in very heavy traffic. When we were inside the theatre, we had a worksheet which we had to fill out. The worksheet was about people who either helped build the theatre or they were actors at the theatre. Once we had finished the worksheet, we decided to walk about the museum looking at all the facts and timelines of the theatre's history. At roughly 12 o'clock, we went into a separate lunch hall were we all enjoyed our packed lunches.

When everyone eventually finished eating, we started to walk towards the actual Globe theatre. It was very interesting as outside there were the names of the people that were involved in the building process itself. They may also have been actors who worked there at the time and maybe retired. The inside of the theatre was astonishing as it looked as if it was built in the 16th century even though it is just a replica of the original. Did you know that it was rebuilt four times?

We were then brought to a room by an actor who worked at the theatre and we had a drama workshop based particularly on Macbeth as we have been studying it in class. She put us through many fun activities that were based on some scenes of the play. I think it was the most fun that I have had in quite a long time!

At about two o'clock we left for school, but I didn't want to go home as I enjoyed myself so much! On the way back we were all quite tired and some of us even fell asleep.

In my opinion this was one of my favourite trips ever!
