A school in Somerset, Writhlington School have decided to buy a £400 laptop for each pupil attending their school.
The school has 1,400 pupils which means that they would have to pay, even with a discount, the amount that will be spent is £400,000 pounds just to ensure that each pupil has a laptop. To help cover the cost of each Dell laptop the school has asked the parents of each pupil to donate £2, every week so it will be easier for the school to pay. The pupils at Writhlington School take home their Dell laptop each day in order to complete their school and home work.
In my opinion this is quite a waste of money as many children in different school s always have much homework to take home and do, but they don’t get laptops of their own. Instead they use their own laptops or computer which is provided at home. However some of the children who do not have access to laptops at home usually go to the library.
