Vesuvius is in Italy and its height is 1,220 metres.

It erupted in 24th August,AD79.

The towns that are nearby are Naples,Pompei and Herculaneum. The towns disappeared under ash and lava.

A man called Pliny wrote about the volcano when it erupted

in AD79.
