My memory box
I will put in the box
the sparkle from my mum's eye on her
wedding day,
the excitement boarding the plane for my
first holiday,
the silk touch of my first teddy.
I will put in my box
a drop of water from the waterfall when I went down
the woods with my brother,
the happiness when I learnt how to ride a bmx,
the scar from my broken arm.
I will put in the box
the first cry from my baby niece,
a splash of water when I learnt how to swim.
My box is fashioned from lizard skin, lava and cob webs,
with fire on the top and emeralds in the corners.
Its hinges are shark teeth.
