Challenge

18.01.2019

Nextweek our learning theme is the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’

Please read this story with your child and encourage them to join in with the repetitive story language.

The challenge this week is maths based. Please finda container, or two. Then ask your child to guess/estimate how many biscuits they can fit inside. Ask your child to find out how many they can really fit in. Was the answer the same, nearly the same or very different? Please send photos in or via the office email or on the foundation blog. We will share them with the children during ourcarpet time.

Next week the children will of course be baking gingerbread as well as role playing being a Baker. There will be a range of media and materials for the children to explore in addition to a range of cooking spices to smell and identify. In Maths, the children in F1 will be searching for Gingerbread, counting how manywe find and trying to match this to the correct numeral. F2 children will be sequencing numbers to 20 and beyond and working out which numbers have been eaten by the fox!

A Note: Children in F1 will now be getting fully changed for their PE sessions on a Friday. Please give your child lots of time to practice being independentwhen getting dressed at home. This will help them to feel more confident when asked to get changed for PE at school.

We’d like to inform you that the difficulties we have experienced with the Foundation Blog have now been resolved and you should be able to view what the childrenhave been doing. In addition, a copy ofthe Challenge will also be posted. Please go to:

Please find your child’s targets in their wallets for you to work on together.

Therewill be slight change in Foundation for the next couple of weeks, whilst MrsRidler is on holiday. Foundation 2 will be covered by a supply teacher on a few days.

Thankyou for your continued support.
