TV: From 2003 to 2005 David Walliams co-wrote (with Matt Lucas) and acted in three series of Little Britain. This sketch show features parodies of the types of people you might find in Britain, and is presented as a guide to them, with a voiceover narration by Tom Baker, who used to be The Doctor in Doctor Who. It was hugely successful and made David Walliams rich and famous. One of the most famous sketches is 'Andy and Lou'. Another is 'Emily Howard the Lady'. Walliams also appeared in an episode of Doctor Who, and he has been a judge on Britain's Got Talent since 2012.

The Boy in the Dress, Mr Stink, Billionaire Boy, Gangsta Granny, Billionaire Boy and Ratburger.
Film and theatre: Walliams appeared in the films of Gangsta Granny and Billionaire Boy, and
played Mr Pumblechook in a version of Great Expectations. He also did the voice of Bulgy Bear in Prince Caspian. In the theatre, he played Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream and appeared opposite Michael Gambon in Harold Pinter's No Man's Land - with Harold Pinter in the audience!
Charity swims: In 2006, Walliams won the Pride of Britain Award for "The Most Influential Public Figure" as he raised more than £1.5 million swimming the 21-mile journey across the English Channel for Sport Relief. In 2011, Walliams swum 140 miles of the River Thames, from Lechlade to Big Ben
in London. This swim raised more than £2 million for Sport Relief.

1. David Walliams drew on his own emotional life, with themes of cross-dressing and effeminacy for The Boy in the Dress.
2. While swimming the Thames, Walliams saved a dog from drowning.
3. His books have sold more than 12.5 million copies.
4. He studied Drama at Bristol University, and met Matt Lucas during the holidays when both were performing at the National Youth Theatre.
