The Westbourne Chronicle

This week, Year 2 took a trip, by coach, to St. Paul's Cathedral. Once they arrived, they saw the impressive building and could not wait to get inside. After they had dropped of their bags, they had a tour and viewed the crypt underneath St Paul's Cathedral. The Crypt had many burnt statues left from the Great Fire Of London! Did you know, there have been 5 Cathedrals? Next, they looked at the beautiful dome. Then they climbed took LOTS of steps up to the Whispering Gallery. After a VERY long day in London, they were ready to go home (their legs were so tired!).

Historical Artifacts Discovered by Year 4!

On the 7th of March, Year 4 explored the shores of the River Thames. It all kicked off with a train journey from Sutton to London. As soon as they arrived they took a walk along the Thames and saw a full size model of the Golden Hinde (the ship that Sir Francis Drake sailed the world in from 1577 to 1580). Soon after that they became archaeologists and picked up historical artifacts from the foreshore, including pieces of Medieval, Roman and Tudor pottery! After that they set off on their journey home back to school by train.

An Interview With Mrs Bolton

What is your favourite subject to teach?

Maths as it is pacey and all children can succeed at their own level. Also there is instant gratification in maths.

If you had the chance, would you move from Year 6 to another year?

No, I love teaching in Year 6 as I can have lots of fun and 'banter' with the children. I also love the challenges that come with Year 6.

What do you enjoy most about teaching in Year 6?

I enjoy the 'banter', the challenges, the Isle of Wight and preparing the children to move on in life to secondary school where they become successful young citizens.

What inspired you to start teaching?

I always wanted to be a teacher since I was young. I guess it is because I loved my own teachers when I was in school. When I was little, I played school with my little brother and later on started work experience in school.

If you were to teach any other year, what would it be and why?

Year 1 as it was where I started out teaching and it would be quite nice for a change.

How old were you when you started teaching?

24

What is your favourite subject to teach in Maths seeing as we all know you love it!?

All number stuff, I am not fond of shapes though! I love anything to do with numbers, fractions and operations.
