THE BOOKS AND FILMS...
Even though Harry Potter is brilliant, in my opinion I think the books are a incredibly more detailed than the films and open up your imagination. Personally, my favourite book is the 4th one- it's called the 'Goblet of Fire'. My favourite film however, is the 1st one: it introduces you to all the characters. When I read these books-written by fantastic author J.K Rowling- a wave of elation washed over me.

In the magical environment of Hogwarts, there are lots of passionate teachers and professors, whose enthusiasm help the young witches and wizards to learn and improve. The head teacher [Albus Dumbledore] also inspires students to learn new spells and charms. Despite this, there are also some malicious professors too.
The head of Charms is Professor Flitwick, who also loves conducting music.
This mysterious teacher with lots of intrests is called Professor Trelawney. Teaching Divination, she annoys Harry when she keeps predicting his death with tea leaves.
Professor McGonacall, is an inspirational teacher- she teaches Transfigaration. Also being deputy head, she teaches the children to do many marvellous spells.
Only being in the 1st book, Professor Quirrel is a strnge man who wears a purple turban around his head. However, whenever Harry is around him, Harry's scar burns.

MYTHICAL BEASTS AND PLANTS...
Deep down in the damp Forbidden Forest, where creatures lived, Harry, Malfoy and Fang[Hagrid's dog] were in detention: they had been out of bed during restricted hours. Suddenly a black, shadowy figure emerged from the darkness... it was the drinker of silver unicorn blood. To Harry's horror, it was coming straight towards him;therefore, he was petrified. However, coming to the rescue leaped Firenze- a centaur. This unusual creature with a half horse, half human feature became Harry's hero for the night.
During a lesson with Hagrid-Care For Magical Creatures- Harry heard a squawking noise coming from somewhere. "How stange?" he thought, curiously. After about a minute or two, Hagrid brought out a weird looking creature. Approaching the crowd, Hagrid said," Wanna have a go riding 'im?" Explaining that this 'animal' had the face of an eagle and the lower body of a horse, Harry was eager to give it a try.
In a lesson with Professor Sprout [the Herbology teacher] everyone was nervous yet excited to observe the wild plants for today's lesson.Grabbing a pair of fluffy earmuffs each, a heavy flowerpot, which inside had a green plant, was placed on the wooden table by Sprout. However, no one -not even Professer Sprout- was prepared for what was going to happen next... an ear-deafening scream echoed around the greenhouse. This horrible plant was called a Mandrake.

The Philosophers Stone
HERBOLOGY
The study of plants,Herbology, focuses on how to study plants and the properties of each one. Useful in various potions, plants are also historically significant for medical reasons. However, not all plants are safe in the Greenhouse of Hogwarts; consequently, dragon-hide gloves and fluffy earmuffs are essential protective kit. Furthermore the following plants can be found in real encyclopaedias: hellebore, dittany and mandrake.
CHARMS
Charms, a combination of a spell and a precise wand movement, adds a magical property or even a power to an object or a creature-it can sometimes be permanent. Translated into Latin, charm means carmen a song.
ASTRONOMY
For centuries, humans have attempted to make sense of the wonderous night sky. In the world of Hogwarts, Astronomy is a key subject taught. Moreover, it is a theme in J.K Rowling's choice of names- Luna Lovegood shares her name with the Roman goddess of the moon and Sirius Black means the brightest star in the sky at night.
DIVINATION
A strange and mysterious subject, Divination is the art of predicting the future, which has been practised with many degrees of success. Crystal balls, palmistry, tarot and tea-leaf reading are the most common methods for this subject. Divination is dismissed by Professor McGonacall as one of the most imprecise branches of magic.
