The start of Astronomy: One giant leap for mankind.

Apollo 11 - The mission that started it all. It was when Neil Armstrong set his foot on the moon, a feat that had been achieved by man.

16 July 1969, the mission started. The rocket raced up into the sky, and then soared into space. Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins were aboard. Then the ship approached the giant rock. Neil and Buzz exited the ship, putting their feet on the moon. Man had finally set foot on the moon!

50 years later we still celebrate the landing, which is what this blog is about!

The Apollo spacecraft provided self-sufficient place for working and living. In the extremely hostile environment of space, this spacecraft needed to provide everything the astronauts required for the journey: protection, flight and work equipment, air, food, clothing, the space-equivalent of bathrooms, and more.

Buzz Aldrin prayed the second he got on the moon, but did not reveal this as there were lawsuits against religious actions being done in space.

Armstrong, the first man on the moon, made a famous quote:

That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
