Should Jim escape from the workhouse?

I think Jim should escape the workhouse because otherwise he might end up like Joseph, who doesn't know where he came from and doesn't even know what a river is. Also if you don't leave you will never see Emily, Lizzie and Rosie again. Furthermore if he stays there any longer he might get beaten because Tip said '' once you get beaten once, you get beaten until you are good''.
