Micro society

Week one

Scarcity

According to 'Oxford's School Dictionary & Thesaurus' scarcity means a shortage of something. We learnt one way of scarcity by reading a story. This stoy included of a planet that had an abundance of resorces. This was soon a big problem because the food quickly ran out, leaving the people of the planet in panic. The food became limited, and resulted in debates how to split it. This taught me about scaresity because it showed me what will happen if anything got scarce. In other words, if something goes scarce everybody wants some of it. I think that scarcity is important to know because you will have the ability to deal with situations when your actually in scarcity.

What We Did

Thusrday 20th April

First, all of the class had to design a flag a name for our country. Sadly, my flag design, a scorpion with red and yellow stripes on the back, didnt win, but my friend's, Vikanthan, flag won our table. It was then all about the names. The name I created was U.S.S (The United States of Scorpopia). After the votes were counted I saw that my name I had created had successfully entitled the name of our country. Then we decided to have a competition in order to get our flag for our country. It was a running race so I was entered to be in it as I am one of the fastest runners in the class. When the race had begun, I sprinted with all my might and won the race so Viksnthan's flag was chosen.

Friday 21st April

On Friday we were given packs of different equipment such as paper, scizzors, rulers, compasses, counters and pencils. The aim of the game was to get as many points you can get under 20minutes. The ponts were: circle with diameter of 10cm=10 points, square with 10cm=5points and counters=5points. We got the most, as we sold our counters which gave us 25 points and then traded our broken protractor with pieces of paper! We started cutting squares and then we won. It was very fun although I still thought it was a bit unfair however that's life.

I have really enjoyed the first weeks of Micro society and will be looking forward for more.
