The EWWR is the biggest campaign in Europe to raise awareness about waste prevention. It is normaly held in the last week of November. Thousands of volunteers talk about sustainable consumption and circular economy in their communities.

Reducing waste, Reusing products and Recycling materials are the main actions addressed during the European Week For Waste Reduction.

Reduce: We have to ask ourselves if we really need the product we're about to buy before buying it. Can we maybe borrow it from someone? Or fix what we already have? If it is a yes, then we can and should REDUCE.

Reuse: Instead of buying disposable items we should use the reusable ones. We have to convince our family and friends to do the same.

Recycling: If we are serious about reusing and reducing, then recycling should only constitute a small part of our efforts. Because if we need to recycle something this means we are already generating waste.

During the EWWR the volunteers educate also about cleaning up areas where littering is obstructing the well functioning of natural and human habitats.
