Year 6 Homework - Week beginning 13/2/17

1) Spellings - Prefix : re

2) Maths - In Year 6 we are focusing on our Times tables and all have our own targets to work on.

In order to really know our tables, we also need to help our understanding and fluency by making links and spotting patterns. For example, we know that if 6x7=42 then 7x6=42 and 42÷7=6, 42÷6=7.

We also know that 1/6 of 42 = 7 and 1/7 of 42 = 6. So just from knowing 6x7=42 we also know many other facts.

I would like you to choose a table of your choice (one of your target tables would be good).

Can you think of 5 word problems that you could give your friends to solve?

Below are some examples using the 8x tables.

e.g A car has 4 tyres. How many tyres do 8 cars have?

James is buying 6 t-shirts at £8 each. How much does he pay in total?

Sam has £72 in his money box. He needs to give his Dad 1/8 of his money. How much does he give his Dad?

Can you fill in the gaps?

Put your problems onto HWB using J2E. We can share them with the class and challenge each other!! Remember, you need to know the answers!
