Hi Robert here, I'm part of Southborough Primary Schools Year 6 School Council. On Wednesday 12th June, School Council went to the Houses Of Parliaments; I'm here to recap to you all about my trip. First of all, we all had to get on the train to London Bridge and took the tube to Westminster Station. Then, we all walked to the Houses Of Parliament but first we had to walk through a garden leading to the doors of the back doors to the Houses Of Parliament where we met a guide who gave us a tour of the entire interior. The first room we visited was the Queens Robing room, which was full of paintings and quite wide and their frames were golden and illuminated. Next we arrived at some sort of gallery which had really old paintings which were "priceless"- Mrs Mckeown, who is a teacher told us. The next area we went into was the House Of Commons, which was nearly all green - the seats, the speakers and seats. There were hundreds of microphones and speakers hidden or hung off the ceiling. The speakers were hidden underneath a long and velvety blanket, drawn across the chairs where all 650 member could hear the microphones. Then we moved onto the House Of Lords, which was exactly as I guessed, just like the house of Commons except... everything was red. It wasn't a real suprise for me, mainly because they told us that morning the colours of each Houses. Then we had to go through what had been the remaining part of the building which was 1000 years old because the rest was burnt in the Great Fire Of London. We then watched a power point about democracy which was quite interesting. Now here's the best and final part... we met Bob Stewart's assistant. He sits down but then, when asked to present himself, walks up to tell us about himself. Most of it was about how Crystal Palace are the best football team in all of the Premier League and how he was the Head of a primary School years ago and how his school football team that he coached was beating us and we didn't win a single cup or get to touch it, but other than that he was a really nice man. No offence if your reading this Bob Stewart's assistant, but when I asked him if he wanted or could be an MP he said he's too old so that sort of explained something. Now here the real best and final part.. lunch. We all had a nice chat and then after headed back to school for one more hour of a lesson. This is Robert and I'm logging off now, thank your for reading my blog.
