The children enjoyed discovering which objects floated, and which ones sank, then they tried recording these results (thank you for trying your own versions of this experiment at home, too!). They also tried a "balloon rocket" experiment, and enjoyed letting go of their balloons to see how they travelled forwards like a "rocket" along the string when the air escaped!

On the work tables, in maths, the children have been learning how to find ordinal numbers (e.g. 1st, 2nd, 3rd...), practising counting, and trying to find doubles. They have done lots of writing, and enjoyed writing their own words. After reading our story "Bumper to Bumper", the children used their precision skills to draw round templates and design vehicles of their choice.

Despite having mixed weather this week, the children have made the most of being outside. Activities included playing with a new basketball hoop and in the mud kitchen, pretending to be on transport vehicles, doing some balancing practise, and helping out with some jobs.
