Syrup loaf

This recipe is from World War 2. It uses a little bit of milk and no eggs, flour and warmed golden syrup. Also it took 30 minutes to bake. Once it is ready to be eaten spread some butter on to the loaf to soften the tough crust and to make the loaf taste better. It tasted great!

First, wash your hands! Next, grease a loaf tin. Then, sift the flour (or flour and baking power) ,bicarbonate of soda and salt. After that, heat the golden syrup and milk( or milk and water), then pour over sifted flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt. After, beat well. Once you have done that, pour into the greased tin and bake inside a moderately hot oven to cook for 30 minutes or until firm. Then, ENJOY!!!

We found this recipe on a website called cookit and we looked in the history cook book.

My mum and I thought it tasted quite nice to make and to eat. Also it was very simple to make.
