Hitler tried to convince Britain to

give up before the battle commenced!

It was one of the first battles in history to mainly be fought in the sky.

Hitler's aim was to gain power

over Britain. Luckily he did not succeed .

On July 10, 1940 the battle of Britain started.

Spitfire are used as fighting planes still today.

In the battle only 3000 pilots fought. Churchill said it was a massive achievement that they were able to beat German.
