EARTH DAY

Earth Day is an annual event always held on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970. Earth day went global in 1990 and it gave attention to environmental issues like recycling. About one billion people recognise earth day and they do demonstration, rallies, concerts, acts of service, outdoor activities and more. It is known as "International Mother Earth Day". Worldwide people ride bikes, plant trees, pick up trash and try not to use not a lot of electricity. This year marks the 51st anniversary and this year's theme is Restore Our Earth.


Senator Gaylord Nelson

Gaylord Anton Nelson was an American politician and environmentalist from Wisconsin who served as a United States Senator and governor. He came up with the idea in early 1960s. He died in 2005.
