RMS Titanic

Passengers in first class were 44 percent more likely to survive compared to other passengers.

The Titanic rests at a depth of 12600 feat and 370 miles south off the coast of Newfoundland.

Evidence suggests that it wasn't

just an ice burg that sank the

unsinkable. There was a coal fire

that was burning inside the ships

fuel bunker with the temperatures

reaching over 538 degrees celcius.

The fire was burning under bunker

number 6 which is exactly where

the ice burg hit. Under these

temperatures steel can become brittle

which could of made the ice burg's

damage much worse.

In 1985 the wreck of the

Titanic was found by accident

on a secret United States Navy

investigation of two wrecked

nuclear submarines.

As the Titanic left the Southampton docks it nearly collided into another ship. If this collision happened it would of cut the Titanic's maiden voyage short saving over 1500 lives.

The Titanic was 883 feet long

and 92 feet wide.

The dining saloon was the

largest room on the Titanic

and it could seat 550 passengers.

The wealthiest passengers

were treated to dinners

consisting of 13 courses,

these could last up to 5 hours

The Titanic would use

850 tonnes of coal each

day to power itself across

the Atlantic Ocean.

An evacuation drill that

was scheduled a few hours

before the collision was cancelled for unknown reasons

by Captain Smith.

In 2010 a new bacteria was discovered by Henrietta Mann inside the Titanic's rusticles and he named it Halomonas titanicae in tribute to the ship.
