Credit cards are money that gets given to you

by a company who you pay back later. Sometimes,

these are used to help you buy something expensive

or because you haven't had your money from your

job yet.

Debit cards are money that comes directly from your bank account. This means you do not have to pay anyone back because it is the money that you have earned or been given. When you use your debit card, you are taking money out of your own bank account and you have to earn the money that goes on that card or someone other than a company gives you money as a friendly gesture.

Why are they called credit cards and debit cards?

They are called credit cards and debit cards because credit means being given and debit means taking away.
