Introduction: There are many different natural disasters including tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanoes, tsunamis, earthquakes, floods etc. They are highly destructive as they kill people and destroy many valuable items. For example, lava from volcanoes can kill people and falling ash can collapse buildings due to its heaviness.

Characteristics of the natural disaster: Volcanic eruptions happen when molten rocks called magma rise to the surface of the earth, it is formed when the earth's mantle layer melts. Runny magma explodes through cracks in the earth's crust and surface as lava. Magma is lighter than rock so it rises towards the Earth's surface along with bubbles of gas inside it. When the pressure is too much a destructive eruption can happen. Another way an eruption happens is when water underneath the surface interacts with hot magma creating steam and builds up enough pressure to cause explosive damage.
