FACTS ABOUT BRITISH LANDMARKS.
FACTS ABOUT THE LONDON EYE
It took seven years and the skills of hundreds of people from five countries to make the London Eye a reality.

The London Eye can carry 800 passengers per revolution - equivalent to 11 London red doubled-decker buses.

The total weight of the wheel and capsules is 2,100 tones - or as much as 1,272 London black cabs!

The spindle holds the wheel structure and the hub rotates it around the spindle. At 23 metres tall, the spindle is around the size of a church spire and, together with the hub, weighs in at 330 tones: over 20 times heavier than Big Ben.

The height of the London Eye is 135m (equivalent to 64 red telephone boxes piled on top of each other) making it the fourth tallest structure in London after the BT Tower, Tower 42 and One Canada Square in Canary Wharf.

FACTS ABOUT THE SHARD
The Shard, at 306 metres tall, briefly held the top spot for the whole of Europe before two buildings in Moscow overtook it within a year!

The fox, nicknamed Romeo by staff, was found on the 72nd storey and is believed to have survived on food left by construction workers.
The building is named as it is modelled on a shard of glass, and its 11,000 panels have a total area of 56,000 square metres.

Over 10,000 panes of glass were used to glaze The Shard.

There are over 300 flights of stairs, over 40 lifts (elevators) and the total floor space is more than 25 acres.
