Microsociety blog: Maxim Cartledge

Week 1: Scarcity.

We first listened to a story about a planet called justenuf. The people were a small society that had just enough resources to live, but one day there was not enough food and they started to fight about who get the food they had left.

Once we listened to the story, our teacher, Ms Thorpe told us that we had to think of a flag and a name. Our table, Black Hole started to think of a flag and a name.

We then played a game where we had to produce perfect squares and circles with the materials we were given. We had: 4 pieces of paper, one pencil, one ruler, one pair of scissors and 2 counters. We worked like a factory; Amelia-Rose flattened the paper, I drew the shapes, Melissa and Emaan cut the shapes, Keelan gave the shapes to Ms Thorpe and Bledion looked at how the other tables were doing. We won with 65 points. We then moved on to the comments. Other people on my table said that I was the boss of our table. Ms Thorpe then asked why our table won. I thought that we won because we worked as a team and we had just enough materials to get points, unlike some other tables, but some people on other tables said because they had me. I don't really know why if a table has me then they get an advantage but apparently I am a good leader because I am not bossy.

We then decided what our flag and name would be. Our flag was quite complicated. Zaptos' flag won. It was a funny face looking left. We then decided what the name would be. Our table thought "Mensopolis". When the votes were in we found out that our table won! Our was really happy that our table thought the name of our society.
