Robert Falcon Scott

Robert Falcon Scott was the first person to go to the South Pole.On the second attempt he sadly died with his crew which cost him his whole life! He was born on the 6th June 1868 in Devonport. When he was just thirteen he served on the royal navy ships in the 1880s and the 1890s .

On the 17th January they reached the pole as they found out that they had beaten the Norwegian party led by Roald Amundsen.They started the 1500 km journey back. Ewans died in mid-February.By march, Oates was suffering from severe frostbites.

In June 1910, Scott embarked on a second Antartic expedition.

His ill-fated Terra Nova expedition ended dreadfully as the ship was thought to have sunk.It was found 70 years later by researchers and the crew had died on the

29th March 1912.
