How the Australians celebrate Christmas!!!

By Agatha

The Australians celebrate their christmas by decorating their houses with palm leaves, evergreen leaves and also with some colourful flowers that bloom in the summer. On Christmas Eve they go to church and when night comes some children wait for Santa to knock on the door and say hello! After opening presents on Christmas Day, they have a breakfast of ham and eggs and go to church a second time. The schools also practice for their nativity plays and for carol concerts too. They put candles on their windowsills and the youngest child in the family is asked to light them. It is to welcome Joseph, Mary and Jesus into the house. The big thing about Christmas in Australia is that it takes place in Summer.
