I am a fish

Once men used to fish for our species endlessly and we were a very common fish. We were losing too many lives so we moved to a safer place which is the rarest coral reef found in Southern Japan. It seemed that we were too mixed up to find our pack so we decided to work together. We became a rare fish in this coral reef.

I am Threespot Dascyllus.I have a triangular body with a tick tail. I can grow up to 13 centimetres long. I am blue-black in colour and when I am young I have three spots on my body. Two of the spots are on the lateral parts of my body, one of them exactly between my eyes like a domino. In fact we are sometimes called this way. When I grow older, sometimes the white spot between my eyes fades away.

My favourite food are crustaceans like shrimp but I also eat algae and cope pods when they are scarce. The shallow coral reef waters of the Pacific Ocean are clean and warm. Some of my cousins live in different coral reefs around the world. The very protective sea anemone, which is my home when I'm young, protects me from people and other big fish. When I'm young, I 'm used to the anemone's sting but as I grow older, I have to look for big rocks to hide. We can live in small families or on our own. Males and females prepare nests and males guard the eggs.

I hope that we will remain safe in coral reefs and that people will stop polluting the oceans and seas. Too many people diving at the coral reefs will ruin our home and so does over fishing. I hope that people understand how beautiful we are and stop without harming us.
