Making our working lighthouse

I loved making our lighthouse because we all worked together making the circuit and the outside of the lighthouse we made a doc and a taco boat we named it that because it looked like a taco. We all worked together making the circuit because it was the funnest part with all the little wires and I fit the light in to place and put the yogurt pot onto the top of the piece of cardboard we were using as the top of the lighthouse. 3 of the people in my group made the stripes whilst me and the other 2 planed what we would design around it in the end we just drew circular windows, one of them had a cat looking out of it. We used solar panels so the light was Eco friendly.

A lighthouse helps guide ships through the sea especially at night because it is dark and they could crash into land, that is why you don't see lighthouses in the middle of a city because the need to be near the sea looking out for boats. The light has to be very bright otherwise the boats far out will not be able to see the light and may just sail towards land and crash. The light in a lighthouse is surrounded by a special lenses which helps it travel a very long distance.

When making our lighthouse we had to think about how it should look, we chose red and white stripes, or how it could be Eco friendly, one of the teams used the tide to power their lighthouse. I thought that was a great idea for a lighthouse because lighthouses are near water. The question that we also had to think about was what does a lighthouse do?

The lenses are like glasses, they focus the light beam to make it really strong. So boats can see it from a long distance.
