Humans need nutrients to survive, these nutrients are chemicals and substances that can be found in food and help our bodies to work properly. Having a healthy diet means eating a balanced meal of nutritious foods, such as fruits, vegetables, proteins and carbohydrates. Processed foods which are foods that have been prepared in a way which reduces their nutritional value can include unhealthy ingredients such as trans fats and saturated fats. These special fats can cause high cholesterol, increase the risk of heart disease and cause obesity. There are lots of healthy and delicious foods you can choose from though; these can include peppers, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, grains, breads, milk or plain yogurt and many more, so try to make your meal as colourful as you can!
